हंगरी ने पहले पकड़े गए 7 यूक्रेनी नागरिकों को रिहा कर दिया था।

यूक्रेन के विदेश मंत्री: आज बुडापेस्ट में हंगरी के अधिकारियों ने सात यूक्रेनी नागरिकों को बंधक बना लिया। इसके पीछे का कारण अभी तक अज्ञात है, न ही उनकी वर्तमान स्थिति का पता है और न ही उनसे संपर्क करने की कोई संभावना है। ये सातों यूक्रेनी नागरिक सरकारी स्वामित्व वाले ओशचैडबैंक के कर्मचारी हैं, जो ऑस्ट्रिया और यूक्रेन के बीच नियमित सरकारी सेवाओं के तहत नकदी ले जाने वाली दो बैंक कारों का संचालन कर रहे थे। दरअसल, हम हंगरी द्वारा बंधक बनाने और धन लूटने की बात कर रहे हैं। यदि यह वही "बल" है जिसका जिक्र आज श्री ओर्बन ने किया था, तो यह किसी आपराधिक गिरोह का बल है। यह राज्य आतंकवाद और जबरन वसूली है। हमने अपने नागरिकों की तत्काल रिहाई की मांग करते हुए एक आधिकारिक पत्र भेजा है। हम हंगरी की गैरकानूनी कार्रवाइयों, बंधक बनाने और लूटपाट का स्पष्ट विवरण देने के अनुरोध के साथ यूरोपीय संघ को भी संबोधित करेंगे।

यूक्रेन के विदेश मंत्रालय ने स्लोवाकिया और हंगरी के उन बयानों को "ब्लैकमेल" करार दिया है जिनमें यूक्रेन द्वारा द्रुज़बा तेल पाइपलाइन के माध्यम से पारगमन फिर से शुरू न करने पर बिजली आपूर्ति निलंबित करने की बात कही गई है। मंत्रालय ने इस बात पर जोर दिया कि "अल्टीमेट क्रेमलिन को भेजा जाना चाहिए, न कि कीव को।"
